Akaroa Harbour Nature Cruise in Canterbury

Voted the number one wildlife activity in New Zealand, this award-winning cruise offers the chance to encounter the rare Hector’s Dolphin, native to New Zealand, as well as penguins and various sea birds. Guests will also witness the grandeur of giant volcanic sea cliffs and learn about Akaroa’s rich history.

Travel to the charming French village of Akaroa, the starting point, and cruise through the awe-inspiring landscape of an extinct volcanic crater. Along the journey, guests may see the White-Flippered Blue Penguin, a variety of bird species, New Zealand fur seals sunning on the rocks near Seal Bay, and if lucky, Orcas or Humpback whales might be spotted during their migration.

With engaging narration from a knowledgeable skipper and a dolphin guarantee, this cruise is a must-do for wildlife enthusiasts.

Akaroa is approximately an 80 to 90-minute drive from both Christchurch City and Christchurch International Airport.
